About

The Australasian Coin & Banknote Magazine is now in its 23rd year of publication. Founded in 1996 by Greg McDonald the magazine has been under the ownership and direction of John Mulhall for the past 18 years.

John sought out and gained the services of some of the world’s best and most highly-respected numismatic authors. Under John’s direction the magazine has gained the confidence of advertisers and the enthusiastic support of the numismatic community.

The Australasian Coin & Banknote Magazine (known popularly as “CAB Magazine”) is the only nationally distributed numismatic magazine in the Southern Hemisphere.

The magazine is sold at newsagents throughout Australia. It is sold also by subscription. Many subscribers have with the magazine since its very beginnings.

Up until early 2002 there had been another nationally distributed numismatic magazine The Australian Coin Review (known affectionately as “ACR”.) This highly-respected publication was commenced by John Gartner in 1964. Its final issue was December 2001 at which time it was acquired by the proprietor of The Australasian Coin & Banknote Magazine.

The Australian Coin Review’s logo was incorporated into that of The Australasian Coin & Banknote Magazine and continues to appear on the front cover as a tribute to a great and fondly-remembered publication.

The Australasian Coin & Banknote Magazine is on sale throughout Australia on the last Thursday of the month prior to cover date. Subscription copies are mailed a week prior to the on sale date.
