Contains a wide range of articles covering Australian and World coins and banknotes plus advertisements from leading numismatic dealers.
The numismatic community has suffered a great loss with the passing of Mark Freehill on January 4. Mark died aged 79 years after a long illness.
Mark was for many years a contributor to and a great supporter of CAB. I appreciated always his friendship as well as his generosity with his knowledge.
An obituary for Mark, prepared by the International Bank Note Society Sydney Chapter, appears on page 13 of this issue.
Dr Kerry Rodgers has prepared his annual review of coins marking the Lunar New Year – this year the Year of the Earth Pig (see page 32). We understand that these annual issues remain the world’s largest numismatic program.
We present also Mick Vort-Ronald’s annual review of Australian Banknote Sales for 2018 (see page 10).
Dr Peter Lewis has prepared a new and very interesting series – The Coins of Tarsus. Part one begins on page 44 Parts two and three will appear in subsequent issues.
My ongoing thanks to Mr Michael Wade for his contributions to CAB. Since 2010 Michael has contributed over 30 articles. His latest, Coinage of James, King of England and Scotland from 1603 begins on page 56.
